TILE SETTER

ABOUT POSITION
At this time, we are looking for a skilled tile installer. In this position, you will be required to work independently and with a team to complete various projects involving a variety of materials from start to finish.
The successful candidate will perform the following duties:
· Assist in initial assessments of project, including materials to be used;
· Prepare, clean, and finalize surfaces to be covered;
· Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets;
· Measure and cut tiles based on available space and approved blueprints;
· Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools;
· Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel;
· Set, align and straighten tiles using levels, squares and straightedges, and apply pressure to affix tiles to base;
· Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout;
· Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles;
· Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs;
· Work with tile strips, marble, granite, and other materials as requested by customers;
· Estimate costs and materials;
· Perform post-installation procedures including polishing, cleaning, and checking for sharp edges;
· Verify the quality of work to ensure it meets and exceeds client’s expectations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum 6 months of experience as a tile setter and good experience working with various hand and power tools and equipment;
· Must have secondary school diploma;
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade plans, maps, drawings, and specifications;
· Team player, client focused and flexible;
· Ability to handle heavy loads as work is physically demanding;
· Good English skills.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
· Permanent, full-time position
· $35.00 per hour
· 30 -40 hours of work per week
· Overtime pay
