Type of Position: Permanent, full time

Job Duties:

Provide Direct Care and Support:
• Build positive relationships with youth residents and offer emotional support and guidance.
• Assist residents with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household chores.
• Monitor and ensure the safety and security of residents within the group home environment.
Develop and Implement Programming:
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement recreational, educational, and skill-building activities for residents.
• Facilitate group discussions, workshops, and therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
• Encourage resident participation in constructive and enriching activities.
Maintain Documentation:
• Keep accurate records of interactions with residents, including progress notes and incident reports.
• Document observations regarding resident behavior, emotional well-being, and any significant developments.
Promote a Positive Environment:
• Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere within the group home, promoting respect, empathy, and accountability among residents.
• Intervene in conflicts or behavioral issues using de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
• Serve as a positive role model for residents, demonstrating pro-social behaviors and healthy coping mechanisms.

Work conditions and Physical Capabilities:
• Remote Location & Rigid temperatures

Skills, Experience and Education Required:
• Diploma in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with youth in a residential setting, such as group homes, shelters, or residential treatment facilities.
• Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care principles, and behavior management techniques.
• Knowledge of Inuit Culture is considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing priorities and situations.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

Wage & Hours: $ 35.00 per hour, 12 hours per day, 3-4 days per week, 36-48 hour per week.
