Off the Fence Toronto delivers high- quality programming to broadcasters and new media partners in Canada and across the globe in the genres Nature & Wildlife, Science, History, Travel, Lifestyle.
As a non-fiction TV content specialist, we have partnerships with numerous Canadian producers and broadcasters. Since opening our office in Toronto in the fall of 2021, we have managed to further expand our client base with new partners in Ontario and Canada at large.
Co-producing, financing and distributing Canadian Content
Off The Fence Toronto’s aim is to seek out Canadian producers who have developed content (or we co-develop with them) but do not have the finances or resources to actually produce the content. Not only do we have the expertise to co-produce the content by providing production and editorial input, but through our extensive network and contacts we can also find international co-financing for our Canadian partners.
Off The Fence Toronto is a branch of Off The Fence Amsterdam, The Netherlands (head office). We are an international company of global reach and scale dedicated to making factual content available that covers a broad scope of genres. The company specifically focuses on documentary content that is consistent with its longstanding mission to bring factually accurate programming to as many viewers as possible through production, global distribution, acquisitions and localizations.
SERIES PRODUCER: Core Responsibilities & Duties
SERIES PRODUCER - the ideal candidate will need strong writing skills and be capable of producing entertaining factual content with scripts full of charm and wit. Experience of producing/directing archive-based series, and ability to craft fast-paced factual programs on a tight schedule.
Key Qualifications & Experience
• The experience and skills to sustain editorial, entertainment and creative values across a TV series. Be full of, and open to, ideas. Able to think laterally and creatively, with strong editorial judgement.
• Have the skills to advise and guide multiple Directors attached to the series including juggling multiple shoots, multiple edits and multiple teams at multiple locations, sometimes while on location yourself.
• Be a good communicator, able to convey your creative and editorial vision and expectations, liaise confidently and professionally with TV commissioners and keep the Executive Producer up-to-date whilst managing expectations.
• Be familiar with the entire range of the technical processes of television production, from pre-production through to post-production.
• Understand the extent to which role each part of the production and post-production contributes to the desired end-result in terms of the completed product.
• Be fully conversant with production budgets and their management.
• Be able to problem solve. Always have a plan ‘B’, be able to prioritise and make quick and effective decisions, take calculated risks, listen to others and be proactive.
