Gratia Bakery & Café (Maple Ridge Location) is located in the heart of the downtown Maple Ridge community, with views of the iconic Blanshard Peak in Golden Ears. Gratia Bakery & Café is a popular gathering place for locals and we offer quality coffee, fresh pastries, and delicious food for good company and creative minds. Currently, we are seeking a full-time Pastry Chef to join our team and play a key role in carrying forward Gratia’s vision of community through exceptional desserts and baked creations.

Position Title: Pastry Chef
Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent
Estimated Starting Date: As Soon As Possible
Position Available: 1
Wage: $36.60 – $37.60 per hour (Depending on Working Experience)
Work Hours: 30 hours per week
Benefit: 2 weeks paid vacation or 4 % vacation pay

Job Duties:
• Plan, prepare, and bake a variety of pastries, breads, cakes, and desserts that reflect Gratia’s quality standards.
• Design dessert menus and seasonal offerings that complement café dishes and enhance customer experience.
• Develop and test new recipes to introduce creative pastries and desserts aligned with market trends.
• Consult with customers for anniversaries, catering, and special events to create customized pastry menus.
• Estimate food and ingredient requirements and calculate costs to ensure efficiency and minimize waste.
• Requisition and manage supplies, ingredients, and equipment to maintain smooth bakery operations.
• Supervise, train, and mentor bakery staff, fostering teamwork and high performance.
• Ensure the pastry kitchen is clean, sanitized, and compliant with food safety and health regulations.
• Support Gratia’s vision of community by contributing to special initiatives such as baking workshops, seasonal promotions, and events that bring people together

Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school is usually required;
• 2–5 years of professional experience in pastry, baking, menu development, and recipe creation is usually required.
• Completion of a recognized culinary arts or pastry/baking program, or Cook’s trade certification, with Food Safety training is an asset.
• Strong skills in supervising staff, managing supplies, estimating costs, and maintaining kitchen efficiency.
• Creativity, attention to detail and teamwork.
