JOB DESCRIPTION
Parrish & Heimbecker is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.
From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.
We are currently looking for three motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individuals to join our Milling division as Milling Shift Supervisors in Cambridge, Ontario.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Supervise and lead the milling team to operate the milling machinery and equipment and make the required adjustments to ensure that the target flour extraction is achieved while also meeting all quality parameters
• Maintain optimum mill balance, capacity utilization, performance, and efficiency
• Work effectively in a food processing environment in a safe manner and with high standards for product quality, housekeeping and sanitation in accordance to BRCGS and Food Safety procedures
• Follow a production schedule and perform all flour production changes as required as well as modify it to make sure production orders are deliveries are completed
• Ensure that flour products are produced according to production methods and the required additives are added according to flour specification
• Monitor and assess the operation and condition of all equipment during the shift and maintain the action items list, indicating equipment that require repair and maintenance.
• Complete required inspection reports and work orders accurately
• Perform troubleshooting and minor repair/maintenance as required
• Communicate and assist 1st Miller 2nd Miller and Utility to ensure all their responsibilities are completed to guarantee overall mill efficiency
• Direct Staff to complete general sanitation according to schedules and work orders
• Report any food safety, product quality and/or food security incidents to the QA Department and relevant departments
• Ensure GMP, HACCP and Company policies and procedures are followed
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Position Requirements:
• Secondary School Diploma
• At least 5 years of relevant experience
• Certificate or diploma in flour milling (NABIM or IAOM) is an asset
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Understanding of ERP systems
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to travel for training nationally and internationally.
Compensation, Conditions and Benefits:
• Permanent, full-time position
• $68,000 - $73,000 per annum depends on experience
• 40 hours of work per week
• Overtime pay is applicable after 44 hours of work per week
• Dental, Vision, and Extended Health Care.
