• Reporting to Work Location: 2050 Mills Road, Sidney, BC V8L 5X4 (truck be pick up and drop off will be at this location).

• 10 vacancies

• Salary: starting at $27.00. Wage is based on Union contract. Increments available as per changes to Union collective agreement. This role is also eligible for over-time shift differential of 50 cents (if start time is between 2pm-6am).

• Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time; 8-12 hours per day and 40-60 hours / week
• Start date: As soon as possible.
• Employment conditions: must be available to work any shift including evening and night, early morning, morning, day, weekend, holidays. Benefits: Cost shared Group insurance benefits provided by the Union which includes Disability, Dental, life, vision.

Job Requirements
Languages: English

Education: is an asset

Experience: 1 to 2 years. Experience in commercial driving is as asset. New commercial drivers with Class 1 drivers license or equivalent which includes MELT are welcome to apply.
Credentials: Driver's License (Class 1), Air brakes endorsements. MELT course

Personal suitability: Reliability, Judgement, Organized, Flexibility.

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Prolonged Sitting, Work under pressure, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, Attention to detail, Weight handling up to 23KG (50LB)

tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots High visibility vest and any reasonable requirements for a driver for the job are provided.
Experience and specialization:
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trip reports, maintenance and repair reports, Dangerous goods occurrence reports.

Type of trucking and equipment: this position is for the Pick-Up and Delivery semi-Trailer drivers. Refrigerated, Flatbed, Tractor-Trailer A Train, Operate GPS and other navigation system.

Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract).
Tasks:
• Operate and drive to transport goods and materials.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle.
• Transport and handle dangerous goods.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs.
• Load and unload goods.
• Professionalism in customer service.
• Complete logbook both manually and electronically. Convery to the mechanic shop of any condition of vehicle which require repair and maintenance including tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• Complete forms, charts, and any other documents required to transport cargo.
