Deckhand

Stoli Finn Isle Services LTD. is looking for two full time permanent Deckhand located at 1710 Greive Avenue, Courtenay, BC . Wage is $30 per hour.

Duties include:

Prepare nets, lines and other fishing tackle, and operate fishing gear to catch fish and other marine life
Help to haul the fish into the boat and unload.
Clean, salt, sort and pack fish in ice and stow catch in hold
Repair nets, splice ropes and maintain fishing gear and other deck equipment
Ensure safety of the boat
Assist in navigation
Perform scheduled vessel maintenance, care for tools and equipment
Adhered to company safety policy and procedures, environmental rules and governmental regulation
Observe immediate surroundings, checking the bilge for leaks, checking the fish hold,
Observing the radar for incoming traffic, listening to the side ban radio for distress calls, relaying said distress calls to the coast guard if the vessel is unable to, and checking the bow lines for any problems with the drift net.
Clean deck surfaces and fish hold and perform general housekeeping duties
Handle mooring lines during docking
Steer vessels to and from fishing areas
Prepare and cook meals for crew members

Employment Requirements:

There are no specific educational requirements.
Boating qualifications an asset.
On-the-job training is provided.
General seafaring skills
Knowledge and experience of navigation, boat handling, engines and radio equipment.
Can regularly travel on a full time basis
Require a commercial fishing licence which may be obtained upon employment.
