Waapihk Research is a Winnipeg-based consulting firm that is seeking a Business Development Officer to work out of their downtown office. Reporting to the Principal, the Business Development Officer is responsible for initial engagement with prospective clients across Canada. The Business Development Officer will identify and develop connections with organizations which may benefit from the unique services Waapihk offers.
This is a is collaborative position, but self-directed, which requires a candidate who is self-motivated and can manage their time efficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing an understanding of the complex services Waapihk Research offers.
Developing an appreciation and understanding of the complex contexts in which our clients operate.
Identifying prospective client organizations and partnerships across Canada.
Facilitating initial engagement between clients and the Principal.
Collaborating with the Research Team to develop and refine products and services.
Working with the Principal to identify and enhance long-term business opportunities.
Populating and maintaining CRM pipeline.
EDUCATION
An undergraduate degree in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, health and research methodology, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered, demonstrating the candidate’s understanding of basic statistics.
EXPERIENCE
First-hand experience living in Indigenous communities or working directly with Canadian Indigenous populations. Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates, who are encouraged to self-declare with application.
Knowledge and awareness of issues related to Indigenous self-governance, data governance, and health transformation reform.
Experience working with Indigenous and northern communities on various issues.
Experience in a business-to-business account development or management role.
Experience in a high-intensity customer service industry.
Experience working with highly sensitive material in a confidential and professional manner.
Good working knowledge of MS Office suite, and qualitative data software or willingness to learn.
Ability to communicate in an Indigenous language would be an asset.
A graduate degree in a related field is an asset.
