JOB DESCRIPTION

</p><p>Sigurdson Forest Products Ltd. converts low grade/low value economy lumber and lumber that is non-marketable into a high value (value added) product.</p><p><strong>Business location:</strong>&nbsp;5255 Frizzi Rd., Williams Lake, BC</p><p><strong>Work Location:</strong>&nbsp;Same as above</p><p><strong>Type of Employment: </strong>Full time – Permanent</p><p><strong>Estimated Start Date:</strong>&nbsp;As soon as possible</p><p><strong>Job Description:<br></strong>– Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout the warehouse manually or using powered equipment<br>-Check and grade blocks<br>-Sort and grade blocks based on their quality under the following categories: thrown to the chipper, sorted to be resized or sorted to go to the Lug loader<br>-Assist machine operators, assemblers and other workers<br>-Clean machines and immediate work areas<br>-Load, unload and move blocks by hand or with basic material handling equipment<br>-Make labels and attach to goods<br>-Wrap, pack, weigh and organize goods.<br>-Organize and maintain inventory<br>-Unjam parts that get jammed up following unjamming procedures.<br>-Sort out blocks on a belt and feed them into a semi-automated corner feeder to go into the ripsaw<br>-Feed blocks onto a chain and set of brushes that separate them so there is one block per lug<br>-Check the quality of the block, joint, and glue to ensure they will meet standards<br>-Feed the blocks into a semi-automated corner where they are joined together in a long assembly section<br>-Run economy lumber from the planer mill into the optimizing/chopping system</p><p><strong>Requirements:<br></strong>– Education: Some secondary school education is required<br>– Experience: Experience is an asset. Training will be provided at the work location<br>– Physical strength is required (lifting up to 45kg (50 lbs) )</p><p><strong>Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:</strong><br>Fast-paced environment, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, standing for extended periods, combination of sitting, standing, walking, large workload, work under pressure, bending, crouching, and kneeling.</p><p><strong>Personal Suitability:</strong><br>Organized, flexible, accurate, effective interpersonal skills, client focused, team player, reliable.</p><p><strong>Work site environment:</strong>&nbsp;Dusty, noisy and cold</p><p><strong>Salary:</strong>&nbsp;$18.00 to $20.00 hourly, 48 hours per week</p><p><strong>Benefits:<br></strong>Bonus paid based on productions levels (after being employed for 6 months – this benefit is retroactive). If the worker needs to relocate, the employer will cover the travel expenses.</p><p><strong>Important Information:<br></strong>Flexibility in schedule is required: The work schedule is two weeks on dayshifts and two weeks on nightshifts. Dayshifts are: Monday to Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Fridays from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Nightshifts are: Monday to Thursday from 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM and Fridays from 2:30 PM to 8:30 AM. Occasionally work on weekends depending on the business’ needs and overtime will be required.</p>
