</p><p>Title: Veterinary Technicians (NOC: 3213)<br>Employer: King Hopkins Pet Hospital, 120 Hopkins Street, Whitby, ON, L1N 2B7<br>Website: <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.khpethospital.ca">www.khpethospital.ca</a><br>Number of Positions: Two (2)<br>Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime, Day<br>Salary: $21 to $24 per hour depending on experience.<br>Number of Hours Per Week: Minimum 40 hours per week with potential of overtime<br>Benefits: Disability, Health Benefits, Ontario Registered Veterinary Technician, 3 weeks’ paid vacation<br>Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible<br>Location: King Hopkins Pet Hospital, 120 Hopkins Street, Whitby, ON, L1N 2B7</p><p>Skill Requirements<br>Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program from 1 year to 2 years<br>Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Ontario Registered Veterinary Technician, Emergency medicine experience preferred.<br>Experience: 12 months’ experience of emergency veterinarian medicine is desirable.<br>Languages: Fluent English<br>Major Work Area: Emergency Veterinarian Medicine<br>Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)</p><p>Specific Skills:<br>• Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals<br>• Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery<br>• Produce radiographs, collect, and analyze samples and perform other laboratory tests to assist in diagnosis of animal health problems<br>• Assist veterinarian with animals before, during and following surgery by preparing surgical equipment, administering, and monitoring anaesthetics and cleaning up after surgery<br>• Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of a veterinarian<br>• Administer treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian<br>• Provide wound and bandage care<br>• Conduct specialized procedures such as animal identification and hoof trimming<br>• Educate and advise clients on animal health care including nutrition and home care<br>• Assist in laboratory research<br>• Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry<br>• Maintain accurate record keeping through our computerized Avimark Software system</p><p>Additional Skills: Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and record keeping<br>Work Site Environment: Animal Hospital<br>Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation</p>
