We pride ourselves in providing top quality workmanship and great customer service.</p><p>The Position<br>We are currently looking for an experienced Organic Furniture Designer/Maker to join our team of manufacturing and installation sub-contracted specialists. We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar environment to commit to the company on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful candidates would have the creative vision and extensive knowledge in design and various furniture styles. We are looking for someone who considers themselves as artists, and not just furniture assemblers.</p><p>Duties will include but will not be limited to:<br>• Assist management in further developing portfolio for furniture designs,<br>• Suggest and work on new designs and their implementation, including classic, modern, contemporary, vanities and other styles,<br>• Conduct area measurements and labour and cost estimations for the furniture to be designed and manufactured,<br>• Read and interpret imported furniture drawings and prepare corresponding specifications,<br>• Trim joints and fitting wooden and metal furniture parts together,<br>• Sand wooden surfaces and apply varnish, veneer, stain or polish for finish,<br>• Prepare layouts for wood and metal articles and create samples and prototypes,<br>• Operate hand saws and other woodworking power and hand tools,<br>• Laminate furniture components and apply laminated plastics,<br>• Repair, refinish and paint furniture with specific colours,<br>• Create authentic, classic and modern furniture looks, etc.<br>• Establish templates, jigs and fixtures for production of furniture and other products,<br>• Select and cut vinyl to form parts of wood products,<br>• Instruct and lead apprentices, trainees and volunteers, when necessary,<br>• Maintain clean and safe work environment as per safety procedures,<br>• Clean work area after the shift and log all weekly job activities.</p><p>The successful candidate will possess the following:<br>- Secondary school diploma<br>- 1 - 2 years of experience working with metal and custom wood furniture manufacturing/ carpentry (in a similar position)<br>- Previous experience in organic furniture manufacturing<br>- Thorough knowledge of European wood furniture design<br>- Knowledge and ability to use woodworking machines and furniture manufacturing tools<br>- Willing to travel around GTA and Ontario</p><p>Compensation:<br>- $23.50 per hour for 35 hours/week<br>- Occasional shift and weekend work may be required<br>- Overtime rate of 1 ½ of hourly rate will apply after 44 hours/week<br>- Full time, permanent position</p><p>Work/Business Location: 530 Keele Street, Unit 410, Toronto, ON M6N 3C9.
