</p><p><strong>A high-impact mandate within a vibrant, diverse and growing municipality – Markham, ON</strong></p><p>An engineering best practices leader, you will drive the organization to innovate, improve and evolve, while establishing effective relationships with key strategic stakeholders to achieve results. As a visionary leader, you will prioritize projects, set goals and build a team focused on service excellence, providing direction and guidance to staff in identifying, addressing, balancing, and delivering on the objectives and strategic priorities of the City of Markham and the Commission of Development Services.</p><p>This is a unique opportunity to champion the City’s engineering, transportation planning and overall development framework serving the current and future residents of the Markham community. Looking to the future, you will lead the development of the City’s 10-year Capital Infrastructure Program, including bridges, roads, sewers and environmental projects, to meet the short- and long-term infrastructure plan. You will oversee the management of day-to-day traffic operational matters and improvements, and the review and approval of transportation studies and improvements to support new development. And you contribute to the development of, and provide consultation and advice on, the Region’s Master Transportation Plan.</p><p>Recognized as a subject matter expert, you will direct staff in preparing comprehensive transportation studies to support growth projections, and coordinate, and comment on, transportation/traffic studies or projects initiated by other levels of government. The Executive Leadership Team will also count on you as a valuable resource, and you will meet regularly with the Chief Administrative Officer, Commissioners and senior team members to keep them current on engineering, transportation and infrastructure projects.</p><p>Monitoring the legislative environment, you will develop policy, provide interpretation and oversee the implementation of practices in compliance with various acts (Municipal Act, Planning Act, Conservation Authorities Act, Development Charges Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, etc.), the Ontario Building Code, and City Bylaws.</p><p>With a university degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, and 10 or more years of progressive, related leadership experience in the public or broader public sector, you have the solid foundation this senior mandate demands. Given your scope of responsibility, a relevant professional designation (P. Eng.) is also expected.</p><p>The salary range for this regular, full-time position is $159,424 to $192,662 per annum.</p><p><strong>Service is our passion.
