Eligible for disability, vision, life and dental insurance and extended medical insurance.<br>Salary: $55,000 / year<br>Contact: hiring@indiealehouse.com</p><p>Overview:</p><p>Indie Alehouse is growing and looking for an experienced Brewer Supervisor to support the team at our production facility in Etobicoke.</p><p>Duties:<br>• Leading the brewing team responsible for wort production and cellaring at our production facility<br>• Co-ordinating work activities in all areas of brewing and packaging at all facilities;<br>• Applying cleaning and sanitization knowledge on the job and following proper cleaning protocols<br>• Following all elements of safety procedures including proper protocols and handling of brewery chemicals;<br>• Overseeing brewhouse operations including grain handling, wort production, spent grain handling, wort cooling, and cleaning;<br>• Overseeing all elements of cellar operations including beer transfers, dry hopping, carbonation, tank cleaning and sanitation, general maintenance and cleaning<br>• Overseeing all elements of packaging operations including keg cleaning and filling, bottle and can filling operations, carbonation, and cleaning;<br>• Maintaining the safety and effective operation of brewery equipment and other related machinery and training staff on safety procedures and protocols;<br>• Assisting in facility operations and facility maintenance with the boiler, chiller, compressors, pumps and more;<br>• Recommending measures to improve product quality through our quality control program including yeast management, cell counting, viability testing, and sampling tanks in accordance with the QC program;<br>• Operating forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks and assisting with shipping/receiving of raw materials and equipment<br>• Assisting with deliveries to brewpubs not limited to ingredients and packaged goods<br>• Following and continuing development of procedures to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability</p><p>Requirements:</p><p>• A Post-secondary education in a related field (with microbiology or chemistry component) is required<br>• 2+ years’ experience working in a production brewery and/or brewpub<br>• Experience brewing for international markets and working with exporters<br>• Forklift license (or ability to obtain)<br>• Strong knowledge of the brewing fundamentals and processes on 10HL to 50HL systems<br>• Strong attention to detail and a commitment both to efficient, effective work both individually and as part of a team<br>• Basic understanding of Excel, Word, EKOS and other programs for brewery functions<br>• Requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, confined, wet, loud environment on one’s feet for most of the day<br>• Repeatedly handling and lifting loads up to 30kg<br>• Strong work ethic and problem-solving ability<br>• Must have a flexible schedule (days/nights/weekends) and be willing to work overtime on occasion (scheduled events, extra production, unexpected events, delays, etc.)<br>• Must be 19 years of age with valid drivers license (or ability to obtain)<br>• Sense of innovation a plus<br>• Willingness and desire to always learn</p>
